Give Local: MOV nonprofits need your donations

For many of us, the past several weeks has been eye-opening in terms of how very fortunate we are. Daily gratitude exercises encouraged as a means of combating the depression and anxiety of adapting to our “new normal” have led quite a few folks to understand just how much they truly have. But there is a flip side to that revelation. We are also becoming aware of the number of people in our communities whose daily struggles are magnified right now. We see news about the organizations determined to give those people — those families — a hand up, and we wonder: How can I help?

Tomorrow is your chance.

Tomorrow is Give Local MOV Day, during which donations can be made to 55 local nonprofits at a single website: GiveLocalMOV.org.

Better still, those donations will receive a share of matching funds provided by community supporters such as Superior Toyota.

Substantial funding provided by those sponsors should “inspire others in our community to make their own generous gifts to support our area agencies,” as Parkersburg Area Community Foundation Development and Communications Officer Julie Posey put it.

Donation is simple, secure … and could yield not only matching funds but financial prizes (such as Early Bird, Lunch Break or Night Owl prizes for those receiving the most donations during certain hours) for your favorite organizations.

Money given tomorrow stays here in the Mid-Ohio Valley. You can help; and you can help right here at home.

If you are able, log on tomorrow and make a difference.
