John Henry Rader

John Henry Rader, 73, of Williamstown, WV, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025, surrounded by his family at CCMC, where Amedisys Hospice followed his care.

Born December 13, 1951, in Parkersburg, WV, John graduated from PHS in 1968 and proudly served around ten years in the USMC, including a deployment to Vietnam.

Over the years, John worked in many roles. To name a few he worked as a patrol officer with the Marietta Police Department, a deputy with the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, a truck driver and dispatcher for Cardinal Freight, and a caregiver at Raderville Childcare, where he lovingly cared for many children.

He was a member of the Williamstown and North End Churches of Christ. John enjoyed fishing with his daughters, caring for his family, and had a deep love for animals.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sandra (Cale) Rader; daughters Teresa (Dave) Jones, Monica (Jeff) McNutt, and Stephanie (Asher) McClung; grandsons Greg and C.J. Myers; brothers Austin (Avis) Rader, Jerry Rader, and Mike Rader; and sisters Pauline Stone and Canise McClain.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clark Rader, Delsie Clegg, and Canis Duncan; and siblings Clarence David Rader, Patsy Wilcox, and Cherie Wilson.

There will be no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, gifts or condolences may be sent to the family to help offset expenses.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the wonderful nurses and caregivers who provided comfort during his final days.
