Melinda Johnson

Melinda Kay (Thorn) Johnson was born January 28, 1957, in Grafton, WV, the daughter of John W. and Ellen L. Bradley Thorn. The youngest of their five daughters passed through a faith-filled season on her way to glory. As a wife of Samuel G. Johnson, momma of Anthony Johnson (Lisa), Laura Perry (Chris), Chaney Johnson (Billy Smith), and GJ of Reagan, Thomas, and Wesley, Melinda knew great love and joy May all be as grateful and blessed as she knew herself to be during her 68 years.

Melinda was a member of the Genesis Sunday School Class and served in many positions within the Vienna Baptist Church, the Salvation Army, the WV Symphony League of Parkersburg, the Association of Desk and Derrick Club, the Southeast Ohio Oil and Gas Association and other community organizations.

Having multiple careers, Melinda was employed by Wood County Schools, the WV oil and gas industry, and Raber Law Offices of Parkersburg. It was her pleasure to work, to learn, and do a job well.

Melinda will be cremated and a celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg with Reverend Michael Seely officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home.
