Anna Victoria Hartley McKitrick, age 102, of Parkersburg, WV passed away on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025. She was a long-time resident of Love and Care Assisted Living. She was born to the late Hoyt Ross Hartley and Faye McGlothlin Hartley on April 20, 1922, on Cow Run in Cottageville, WV.
She was valedictorian of the 1942 graduating class of Union High School and also graduated from Mountain State College. During her lifetime, she was employed by Union Insulating Company in Parkersburg for 14 years, raised and sold thousands of quarts of strawberries, and hand-quilted hundreds of quilts for friends and family. She was an active member of the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church and the Washington Bottom United Methodist Church for many years.
She is survived by her children – Virginia (Rick) Towe of Point Pleasant, WV, and Charles (Melanie) McKitrick of Huntington, WV; four grandsons – Mason (Burgandy) McKitrick of Hurricane, WV; Brian (Brittany) Peck of Hilliard, OH; Brad (Charity) Towe of Point Pleasant, WV; and Wesley (Sandy) Towe of Huntington, WV; nine great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leonard Leroy McKitrick; her brother Herbert Hartley, her older sister Martha (John) Rexroad, her twin sister Alice (Virgil) Cunningham, and her younger sister Freda (Roy) Stephens.
Funeral services will be held at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, Ohio, on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Richard DeQuasie officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. before the service. Burial will be in Rockland Cemetery in Belpre, Ohio.
