Charles R. Uhl

Charles R. Uhl, 93, a local businessman of the Parkersburg community, passed away August 17, 2024, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 18, 1930 a son of the late Seldon and Hazel Uhl.

Charles was a 1948 graduate of Parkersburg High School, attended the University of Miami and graduated from Marietta College. He also served in the US Air Force. Charles was Owner, Builder and Operator of the Grandview Apartments for 36 years and developed the Grandview Addition in Parkersburg. He enjoyed traveling and especially by motorhome, often wintering on the coast of Mexico. He loved jazz music, meeting with the Coffee Club Friends, going to the Indianapolis 500 and watching NASCAR.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Peggy; his daughters, Patricia Jumper, Cheryl Uhl; step-daughter, Valerie (Mark) Pittman; step-son, Mark Selby; sister, Nellmarie Berry; nephew, Maurice Audett and niece Joyce Maxwell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Maxwell; his brother, Nick Uhl; niece Linda Maxwell; and mother of his children, Sandra Jean Uhl.

A Memorial Service will be held, Saturday, August 24th at 3:00 pm at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor Adam Myers officiating. There will be refreshments and hors d’oeuvres served at the Leavitt Reception Center following the service.

Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to the service from 2-3 pm at the funeral home.

Inurnment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
