Gregory C. “Greg” Hawkins, 72, of Parkersburg, WV, passed away July 16, 2024, at the Belpre Landing Rehab Facility.
He was born November 4, 1951, in Fairmont, WV, a son of the late William Marion and Adeline Maxine Bissett Hawkins. Greg was a graduate of East Fairmont High School, Fairmont College and received his master’s degree from West Virginia University. He was retired from the Wood County School System and his working career included Colin Anderson Center, Parkersburg High School and finished at Williamstown High School. Greg was a member of the Parkersburg Coin Club, the Mill-Run Hunting Club, the TBI Fraternity and Waverly United Methodist Church. He was also a Master Mason in Acacia Lodge #157 in Fairmont and a 14th Degree in the Scottish Rite. Greg was known for his chicken roasts and special seasonings and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Greg is survived by his wife of 44 years, Catherine “Cathy” Hall Hawkins; two sons, Jason Alan Nestor (Alicia) of Waverly, WV and William Eugene Hawkins (Jeanna) of Bridgeport, WV; two siblings, William Terry Hawkins (Sheila) of Fairmont, WV and Priscilla Jane Bowers (Richard) of Monumental Community, WV; three grandchildren, Jett Alan Nestor, Vincent Samuel Hawkins and Gayle Marie Oberacker and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, July 21, 2024, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna with Rev. Steve Swecker officiating. Entombment will follow at the Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Camden Clark Medical Center 4 North, Belpre Landing, Rev. Steve Swecker and close friend Bob Pickens for all the love and support given to Greg and his family. Heartfelt appreciation to Alicia Nestor who helped Greg throughout his journey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Waverly United Methodist Church, 872 Virginia Street, Waverly, WV 26184, in memory of Greg.
