In loving memory of Douglas Dirk Sears, an Open Memorial Service will be at 2:30 p.m., May 21, 2023, at River Hill UMC at 1198 Blennerhassett Heights, Parkersburg, WV. Pastor Chuck Furbee will officiate.
Doug was born Dec. 21, 1966. A memorial service was held in Conroe, TX after he passed away May 19, 2021 at the age of 54 of a cancerous brain tumor (GBM). He asked that his ashes be scattered in West Virginia.
He attended Blennerhassett Elementary and Junior High School and Parkersburg South High School, Pittsburgh Art Institute and WVU-P. He joined the Navy in 1991 and was honorably discharged, after which he worked at Square D in Asheville, NC.
Doug married Stacy Downing in 2006 and lived in Angleton, TX. They moved to Parkersburg, WV and were owners and operators of High Caliber Guns from 2009 to 2013. He was a Gun Smith and a Concealed Weapons Instructor.
They returned to Conroe, TX, in 2013 where Doug was an OSHA Specialist in the Oil and Gas industry and worked in quality control. They transferred church membership to MIMS Baptist Church where he was an Adult Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir. He won first place in the Church Chili Cook-off and Brisket Competition. Doug was a talented artist with private showings and competitions. His art will be made available as note-cards for non-profit fund-raising to benefit the Glioblastoma Foundation.
Douglas will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 15 years, Stacy Downing – Sears and their children Nicole (Tony) Kimberly and James (Kay) Millie, his mother, Deloras Richard Sears, sister Heather (Gary) Summers, brother Chris Sears, his sisters-in-law Melissa Sears and Janice Watson, his twin grandsons, Brody and Levi, and nephews Hunter (Audrey) Sears and Ian Sears, nieces Morgan (George) Lane – Roberts and Madison (Michael) Brown.
Douglas was predeceased by his father Delmar Sears and his father and mother-in-law Les and Jane Downing.
