Willis Ray Moneypenny

Willis Ray Moneypenny, 92, of Cairo, WV, departed this life on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg, WV.

Ray was born August 3, 1929 in Cairo, WV a son of the late William Rodney “Jake” and Isa (Moats) Moneypenny. He began his working career operating spudder machines in the oil field. He then drove an oil truck for Valvoline Oil before beginning a 32 year career at Ashland Oil of East Sparta Pumping Station. He was a proud US Army Korean War Veteran having earned 2 bronze stars and the combat service medal. He was a member of Cairo Lodge #114 AF & AM where he served as past master and was a 32nd degree mason. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite of Canton, OH. Ray greatly enjoyed gardening and hunting.

He is survived by his children, Willis Rodney Moneypenny (Kimberly) of Bolivar, OH and Patricia Rae Lahmers of Canton, OH; grandchildren, Robert Lahmers and Ava Louise Moneypenny, and his sister, Christine Zedaker of Cleveland, OH.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Olela Madilyn (Kelley) Moneypenny; brothers, Dennis, Frank, Pete, John, and Lewis Moneypenny, and sisters, Pauline Hamilton, Elizabeth Petry, Kathleen McCullough, Louise Six, and Jean Buchanan.

Funeral services will be 11am, Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at the Raiguel Funeral Home in Harrisville, WV with Rev. Dean Ash officiating. Burial will follow in the Cairo Masonic Cemetery where full masonic rites will be conducted by Cairo Lodge #114. Visitation will be from 4pm-6pm on Monday, at the funeral home.

The family requests that masks be worn while inside the funeral home while attending the visitation and funeral.
