Michael DeWayne Cain

Michael DeWayne Cain, 75, of Vienna, passed away April 19, 2021, at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born on April 2, 1946, in Cairo, WV, the son of the late Edward and Hazel Cain.

Michael was a 1964 graduate of Cairo High School and 1968 graduate of WVU. He served in the US Navy until 1973.

He had worked for Harry “Hap” Esbenshade III with the Mountain Company in various positions with the company, serving over forty years. Michael was a WVU football fan and enjoyed watching the Penguins Hockey games. He loved spending time with his sons and grandchildren.

Michael is survived by his sons Scott Cain (Megan) of Garette County, MD, Ryan Cain (Jodi) of Vienna, four grandchildren Aidan, Emily, Ryan, Ella, brother Kendall Cain (Sue) of Pennsboro, sister Sharon Hayes of Dallas-Fort Worth, TX and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Curtus Hayes, nephew Curtus Hayes, Jr. and his fiance Pamela Kramer.

A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Saturday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. prior to the memorial service on Saturday.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the The ALS Association West Virginia Chapter, P.O. Box 2782 Beckley, WV 25802.
