On Monday, January 18, 2021, Marvin Blake passed away peacefully at home at the age of 84, after an extended battle with the neurological disease, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.
Marvin was born on June 5, 1936, in Glendale WV, to the late Vera and Homer Blake. He went to Cameron High School. On December 8, 1956, he married Nanetta Jones. They raised two sons, Scott and Todd, and a daughter, Lyn.
Marvin spent his career at Shell Chemical, in Belpre, OH. He retired from the Belpre plant in 1988 and spent the next three years working for Shell in Holland and France. When he returned, he assisted with the rebuild of Shell in Belpre, after the explosion, in 1994.
He was a member of Rockland United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir, was a member of Four for the Lord, was the Financial Chairman and a Trustee. He was instrumental in the planning and building of the new Fellowship Hall addition. Marvin was a member of the Masonic Lodge #609, in Belpre.
Marvin enjoyed doing projects at his home, his children’s homes and his church. When he wasn’t working on a project or a chore around the house, he loved to golf.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Margaret Hopkins.
He is survived by his wife Nan; children Scott (Christine) Blake, Todd (Trish) Blake and Lyn Blake; brother Roger (Perky) Blake; grandchildren McKenzie (Allen) Costner, Morgan Blake, Garrett Blake and great grandsons Peyton and Cannon Costner; sister-in-law Sally (Tom) Adler; brother-in-law Gary (Amanda) Jones and many nieces and nephews.
