James W. Deem

James W. “Jim Bill” Deem, 82, of Parkersburg died Jan. 8, 2021, at the Camden Clark Medical Center.

He was born on Feb. 18, 1938, in Parkersburg, WV a son of the late Eugene “Deemie” and Gladys Dickerson Deem.

He was a 1956 graduate of Parkersburg High School and then obtained a Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy form Ohio Northern University, playing Varsity Football for both his high school and university. He was dedicated second generation owner and Pharmacist of Park Pharmacy. He was a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge #169, Nemesis Temple, serving as Potentate and the Royal Order of the Jesters, Court #156 as a Past Director.

James is survived by his daughter Amy L. Deem of Miami, FL; cousins, Stephanie Kincaid and Tom Ballway; special friend, Phyllis Brown and extended family, Butch, Donna and Steve Shaver.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Mary Louise “ML” Cross Deem, whom he was married to for 50 years.

The family would like to thank “Jim Bill’s” extended family at the 19th St. Country Club for always being there.

Graveside Services will be Wednesday 2 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Reverend Sara Lamb officiating and Masonic Graveside Rites by the Masonic Blue Lodge #169.

Visitation will be held Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, WV.

A Celebration of his Life at Dils’ River Front Park will be scheduled in the Spring and be announced at a later date.

Memorial Contributions can be made to the PHS Big Red Athletic Fund or Shriner’s Hospital.
