William Nicholson Irvin
William Nicholson Irvin (Nyck), 56, of Red Bluff, CA., passed away Oct. 17, 2020, at Mercy Medical Center in Redding, CA.
Nyck was a 1982 graduate of PHS, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, employed most of his adult life by I.P.T. in Menlo, CA.
He is survived by his wife and best friend (happily married for 35 years), Virginia (Ginny) Irvin; daughters, Kim Lamont, Penny Haskins & Carol Fourby Simmons. A grandson, Kristopher Gambrell; granddaughter, Kalli – Ellise Kohler; his constant fur companion Sadie, many friends who will always be his family. Also his mother Beth Pickrell; father, Ray Irvin; siblings Kammy Davis, Brenda Richards, Mark Irvin, Shane Irvin, Kyle Irvin; uncles/aunts Jim & Sandy Irvin, Bill Martin, Dan (Nina) Martin, many cousins, nephews, nieces, great nephews & nieces.
Nyck is preceded in death by grandparents Robert & Dorothy Irvin, William & Mary Martin; uncles John Martin, Chet Irvin, Bob Irvin, Ron Irvin and brother Jamie Irvin.
Nyck loved his horses; riding, training, teaching others about their beauty, intelligence and strength; dogs, sometimes the only friends he would truly open up to; cats, he said he was a dog guy but cats made him a softy. He loved his Rocking K ranch, motorcycle, friends and family.
Being the giving man Nyck was, he was an organ donor so that others could live.
There will be a military service at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery. As per his wishes, Nyck’s ashes will be kept at the family ranch, where he will be able to watch over his family forever.
Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, in memory of Nyck, a charity near and dear to his heart.
