Margaret Ann McCray Reynolds, age 91, passed away Monday, March 23, 2020, at the SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin, in Yadkinville, NC. She was attended by her daughter, Cynthia, as well as the hospice staff, who provided loving and comforting care. She was born in Parkersburg, WV, and was the youngest of three children. She is predeceased by her parents, Leola Parks and Pinkney P. McCray, her brother, J. Paul McCray, and sister, Evelyn Louise Chittum.
Margaret received her B.S. from West Virginia University, where she met her husband, Joseph I. Reynolds. When Joseph passed in August of 2018, Margaret lost the love of her life, her friend and companion of sixty-eight years. They raised a family together that includes four children, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, who all survive her. Her children include Stephanie Moran of Worcester, MA, Stephen Reynolds of Harvard, MA, Gregory Reynolds and his wife Janice of Tewksbury, MA, and Cynthia Roush and her husband Todd of Advance, NC. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren filled her life with joy and pride.
Margaret’s legacy includes her strength, intelligence, and resilience. Her children remember turning to her for advice, guidance, and support, which she never failed to provide. Her hallmark qualities included compassion and service. She touched the lives of her family and many others by her quiet, yet powerful love. Reliance on her faith in Jesus Christ guided her in all of her life. To know Margaret meant to be touched by her grace and kindness and, throughout her life, she epitomized what it meant to be a lady of refinement and style. She provided her family with a home that was both comfortable and filled with love, regardless of where that home was located. The legacy of this incredible woman will live on in the lives of her family and all those who were fortunate to know her.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no public visitation or funeral. Mrs. Reynolds will be laid to rest beside her loving husband in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
