Alice Hartley Cunningham
Alice Laurena Cunningham, age 97, of Parkersburg, WV, passed away on February 18, 2020. She was born to the late Hoyt and Faye Harley on April 20, 1922 in Cottageville, WV.
She was a graduate of Union High School before attending Mountain State College. She was a long-time member of the Belpre Church of Christ and a resident of Love and Care Assisted Living. Over her lifetime she was employed by the Union Trust Bank in Parkersburg and has hand-quilted thousands of quilts for friends and family, creating lifelong heirlooms and memories.
She is survived by her twin sister, Anna McKitrick, of Parkersburg and her younger sister, Freda Stephens, of Marietta, three of her four children; Edward Cunningham (Kathy) of Pittsburgh, PA, James Cunningham (Dee) of Canal Winchester, OH, and Gladys Stewart (Chris) of Sebastopol, CA, four granddaughters; Beth Simoes, Bobbi Wilson, Jennifer Jewell and Kerri Rader, four step-grandchildren; Marty Valentine, Brandon Valentine, Shane Valentine, and Davey Dingess and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil Cunningham, son Kenneth Cunningham, brother Herbert Hartley and sister Martha Rexroad.
Funeral services will be held at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre on Saturday at 2:00 PM with Ron Laughery officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 6:00 to 7:00 PM and from 1:00 PM till time of services on Saturday.
