David Tennant

Lieutenant David Tennant, 42, of Parkersburg, WV. responded to his final call Thursday, June 13, 2019 when his Heavenly Father called him home. Dave fought a courageous battle with leukemia for nearly 5 years.

He was born in Wood County the son of the late Richard L.Tennant and Barbara Jean Smith Dotson of Ripley, WV.

Dave was a 1994 graduate of Parkersburg South High School and graduated from the West Virginia State Police Academy in 1997. He served as a Deputy with the Wood County Sheriff’s Department for 22 years being promoted to Lieutenant in 2016.

David enjoyed W.V.U. Basketball, Seneca Rocks, movies, family get togethers, beaches, working outside on his farm and keeping a beautiful lawn but most of all he loved spending time with his wife, children, family and “His brothers and sisters in blue.” ( Matthew 5:9) His dislikes were dandelions, crabgrass, clover and violators.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Deborah Ann Kellar Tennant of Parkersburg; His children, Alexandra Ellaine Tennant and Jeremiah David Tennant of Parkersburg; His stepson, Billy Abbott of Parkersburg. His siblings, Monica Scritchfield, Richard Manton Tennant (Angela), Stephanie Randolph (Jamie), Rickie Lee Tennant and Chad Tennant (Julia) all of Parkersburg. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2:00 pm at the Parkersburg South High School Gymnasium with Pastor Everett Snyder officiating. Burial will be in the Wadesville Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg and Tuesday from 10:00 am until service time at the Parkersburg South High School Gymnasium.
