David Hamilton Stephens

David Hamilton Stephens, formerly of Parkersburg, died in Fort Worth, TX, in the early morning hours of May 1. He was born in Parkersburg, WV, August 11, 1944, to the late J. Donald Stephens and Mildred Fisher Stephens. He was also preceded in death by his sister Judith Stephens George just before she was to graduate from Alderson Broaddus College in 1962.

David graduated from PHS, worked summers at DuPont, and graduated college after attending both Salem College and Marshall University. He was a long-time member of New England Baptist Church. Throughout his high school and college years he was very active in Baptist Youth Fellowship and Baptist Camp at Cowen.

Following graduation, he worked for a number of years traveling as an auditor for Metropolitan Life. He served one tour in Viet Nam. He later moved to Dallas, TX, where he was employed until his retirement, as he audited many companies in TX which did business with the state of FL.

He is survived by one aunt, Mary Jane Fisher Phillips, of Minnesota, one uncle, Howard Lewis Fisher and his wife Joan, of Oklahoma, and many cousins and friends. He is also survived by the Daniel family he “adopted” after his move to TX including Sally, John Mark, Mandy, Karson, and Kylie. The Daniel family provided David with many years of friendship and care.

A graveside service will be conducted by Rev. Mike Stephens at the New England Baptist Church Cemetery on Friday, May 31, at 2:30.
