Dallie ‘Susie’ Hickman

Dallie “Susie” Hickman, 69, Belmont, died on her late husband’s birthday, August 25, 2017, in her home surrounded by her children. She was born May 13, 1948, in Gate City, Va., a daughter of the late James and Lola Collins Frank. She was a 1966 graduate of Gate City High School. She graduated from the St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Parkersburg, W.Va., in 1969. She was crowned as the District IV Miss Hope by the American Cancer Association in 1978. She started her career as a pediatric nurse at St. Joe’s Memorial Hospital in Nashville, Tenn., and retired as a Public Health nurse after 20+ years of service from the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department. She was a devout member of the Belmont United Methodist Church where she held many offices and taught Sunday school over the years, and was awarded a Special Mission Recognition by the United Methodist Women. She was family oriented and Grammy to her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling and had a love for the beach.

She is survived by her three children, Jason Hickman and his wife, Susan, of Greenville, W.Va., Aaron Hickman of Belmont, and Jennifer Kimball and her husband, Robert, of Belmont; three grandchildren, Tyson Kimball, and Piper and Rowan Hickman; a special nephew, Malachai Hall; sisters, Pat Taylor and her husband, W.C., Brenda Gilliam and her husband, Steve, and Caroline Jennings, all of Gate City, Va.; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Frank of Columbus, Ga., Bonnie Frank of Gate City, Va., Diann Crawley of Bridgeport , W.Va., and Debora Hall of Belmont, W.Va.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of nearly 40 years, David; her three brothers, Jim, John, and David Frank; and brother-in-law, Robert “Buck” Jennings.

Services will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, W.Va. Burial will follow in Pleasants Memorial Estates, Eureka, W.Va. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
