Rev. Walter Eugene Dawson
The Rev. Walter Eugene Dawson, 86, of Bristol Village, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Oct. 2, 2014, at his home.
Our family gave back to the Lord, his loyal servant, the Rev. Walter E. Dawson. He was an awesome man of God and wonderful father. He enjoyed doing the Lord’s work and his work with Art. He loved his family and friends. He was a very compassionate, loyal and thoughtful person.
Walter was born June 29, 1928, in Parkersburg, the son of the late Salis Alfred Dawson and Mary Lucinda (Pratt) Dawson.
On June 25, 1949, Walter was united in marriage to Aniebell (Campbell) Dawson, who survives. Also surviving are five children, Twila Riley of Harrisburg, Ohio, Joyce Cogley and husband, Dan, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Terry Dawson and wife, Mary, of Cleveland, Ohio, Faith and Charlie Willis of Gas City, Ind., and Timothy Dawson and wife, Julie, of Harrisburg, Pa.; five grandchildren, Duane Riley and wife, Carrie, Michael Cogley and wife, Bridgett, Rebecca Ray and husband, Dorian, Crystal Hatcher and husband, Chris, and Joy Dawson; four great-grandchildren, Paige Riley, Emma Riley, Dominic Cogley and Naomi Hatcher; and a niece and two nephews.
His parents; infant son, Ricky Carl Dawson; son-in-law, William Lawrence “Larry” Riley; and sister, Juanita Hupp, preceded Walter in death.
Walter was a Pastor with the Evangelical Methodist, Church of Christ in Christian Union and the Wesleyans. His last Pastorates were the Omega, Alma, Massieville, and the Calvary United Methodist Churches, Waverly, Ohio.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. today at River Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg.
