Wood Sheriff

PARKERSBURG — The Wood County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports on Jan. 10:

Jan. 7

* Deputies responded to I-77 north mm 161 for a vehicle crash. The vehicle was sitting stationary in the median facing northbound with heavy front end damage with the guardrail also being damaged. The driver stated he drove over a patch of slush on the road and lost control of the vehicle, where it exited to the left striking the guardrail and coming to rest in the median. No injuries and the vehicle was towed. Crash report completed.

* Deputies responded to Winding Road for a UPS truck stuck in a ditch. The UPS truck was removed by the wrecker and towed to the top of the hill and driven from the scene.

* While on patrol a vehicle was observed in a ditch on Old St. Mary’s Pike with the driver being in a reclined position in the driver seat with the vehicle running. Upon knocking on the window the male opened the door with the odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle. Michael Dwaine Mosley, 36, of Lynn Street, was arrested on charges of DUI and possession of marijuana. He was transported to the Holding Center for processing and placed pending his arraignment.

* A Deputy while traveling southbound on I-77 near the 178 mm after clearing a crash caused by the weather and road conditions noted a SUV traveling at a high rate of speed behind him and another vehicle. The Deputy flashed his rear emergency lights in an attempt to get the driver to slow down however he continued to pass the Deputy at a high rate of speed, the Deputy then bumped his siren with the vehicle temporarily slowing then speeding up again. A traffic stop was conducted and a citation was issued to Christopher P. Harr, 52, of Huntsburg, Ohio, for speeding, 81 mph in a 70 mph zone.

Jan. 8

* Deputies responded to Big Run Road in reference to a domestic between brothers. The one brother had left the area prior to Deputies arrival and was not located in the area. The one brother stated that the other brother had threatened him then attacked him swinging punches and hitting him. Injuries were observed to the neck area in the form of redness and scratches. A criminal complaint will be completed and a warrant will be issued for domestic battery and domestic assault.

* Deputies responded to Elizabeth Pike at Southern Highway in reference to a vehicle crash. A Subaru was observed with damage to the driver front fender and wheel. The driver of the Honda sedan stated she was traveling southbound on Elizabeth Pike when the Subaru pulled out from the stop sign into her lane of travel. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. A citation was issued to the driver of the Subaru, Madison Elizabeth Donaway, 27, of Washington Blvd., Belpre, for driving on suspended/revoked and failure to maintain control. Crash report taken.

* Deputies responded to Westview Way in reference to a domestic in progress. Upon arrival the male was outside in the parking lot with the female being inside the apartment. The female was observed with a bloody nose and a scratch on her chest. The female stated that while both she and the male were inside the vehicle in the parking lot the male pulled hair, grabbed her throat and strangled her, she was able to get away and was shoved to the ground. While inside the apartment, the argument continued. Nathan Edgar Caplinger, 47, of Westview Way, was arrested on a charge of strangulation. He was transported to the Holding Center for processing and placed pending his arraignment.
