Athens Sheriff

ATHENS — The following reports were released by Athens County Sheriff’s Department.

Jan. 14

* The Criminal Interdiction Unit conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 33; marijuana was located, seized and processed as evidence. The vehicle was then released to a valid driver.

* A construction company working on Poston Road in Athens reported that sometime overnight a truck was stolen from its job site. It was found that the truck in question was actually recovered earlier in the morning as it was towed from SR 691 after it was found abandoned. The incident is still under investigation.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to SR 682 in reference to a possible burglary report. Upon arrival, contact was made with the complainant who advised that his house was broken into on Jan. 4.

* A resident of The Plains reported that his vehicle was entered sometime over the weekend while parked on Industrial Drive. Items were reported missing.

ATHENS — Athens County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports on Jan. 16.

Jan. 15

* The Criminal Interdiction Unit was responding to a call in New Marshfield and observed a male driving a vehicle away from the scene. As the vehicle passed the deputies, the driver was identified as a male having several warrants for his arrest. The vehicle then fled deputies for a short distance before the male fled from the vehicle on foot.

A police dog was then deployed and tracked the male through a wooded area. The male was found approximately a half mile away. The male, Kenneth G. Perry Jr., 34, of New Marshfield, was placed under arrest for obstructing justice, as well as warrants for failure to comply, community control violation, obstructing official business, failure to appear and two counts of non-support of dependents. Also located in the vehicle was Alice Allbaugh, 47, of New Marshfield. Allbaugh was also placed under arrest for an active warrant for her arrest. Both subjects were transported to the regional jail without further incident.

* The sheriff’s office served a court document to Tyler James Brooks and found Brooks had two active warrants for failure to appear. Brooks was transported to the courts so a hearing could take place.

* Carletta Carr, 41, was arrested on an active warrant out of Athens Municipal Court. The sheriff’s office made contact with her during a dispute between her and a relative. Carr was transported to the regional jail.

* The sheriff’s office responded to Sixth Street in Jacksonville in reference to a possible suicidal male. Contact was made and it was determined the male would benefit from treatment. He was transported to O’Bleness Hospital without incident.

* The sheriff’s office was dispatched to Oxley Road in Athens for a report of individuals trespassing. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the complainant who stated that an individual was observed tampering with a vehicle on her property. Upon investigating the area, tools were located, and it appeared the suspect was attempting to cut off a part of the vehicle. Deputies advised the complainant that the sheriff’s office would conduct extra patrols in the area. The tools left behind were then collected as evidence.
