ATHENS, Ohio — On Sept. 20 the following reports were released by the Athens County Sheriff’s Department:

Sept. 19

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence located in Dover Township regarding prowlers in the neighborhood. The caller said over the last several weeks, things have been disturbed in her vehicle and around her residence.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a well-being check request on Ohio 550. On arrival, contact was made with the person the check was requested on and they were asked to contact the person who requested the request.

* A resident of White Road reported they are selling their home and found an ad on Craig’s List with their property available for rent. This is another common scam used to get a first month rent and deposit by the suspect. The money is usually sent out of state and the contacts used to reach the suspect will be disconnected as soon as they receive the money.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to West Bailey Road in reference to a property line dispute. This is an ongoing dispute that will not be settled until one of the involved parties decides to have the property surveyed. At this point it’s a civil matter and no further action can be taken by the Sheriff’s Office.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Biddyville Road in New Marshfield on a report of a verbal argument between and male and a female in a vehicle. Upon locating the vehicle, the parties were identified. Deputies spoke to both involved and it was found to have been a verbal argument. They were advised to move on.

* Deputies were dispatched to Mineral in reference to a male shooting a firearm in an unsafe direction. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the male and seized the firearm. This case remains under investigation.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was called to meet with a representative from the MRDD Board to assist them with a property retrieval in the Sandstone Terrace Trailer Park. Contact was made and the property was retrieved without any further incident.

* Deputies responded to North Street in The Plains for a theft report. The victim said she was storing items at this address in a garage when she notices some items were missing. There was no forced entry to the residence and no other evidence was left on scene.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was called to Alexander High School for a report of a 911 open line. The phone was unable to be reached upon call back.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to May Avenue in Chauncey for a ACEMS assist for a combative patient. Deputies responded due to a patient being combative on the second of two EMS responses within an hour of each other. Deputies were able to get the subject into the ambulance with no incident for a transport to O’Bleness Hospital. Deputies determined that the criteria were met to enforce a mandatory mental health screening for the well-being of the patient.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was called to assist the Albany Police Department on a traffic stop. The male was subsequently arrested and charged by the Albany Police Department.

* Deputies responded to Ohio 550 in Athens for an overdose call. The complainant said the subject had been feeling unusually sick and believed it was from taking too many pills due to her impaired demeanor. The subject admitted to taking pills due to some issues with relationships in their life driving her to try to hurt herself. It was determined the subject needed to receive physical treatment along with a mental health evaluation.

Sept. 18

* Deputies responded to Waterloo Township in reference to a private property automobile accident where property was damaged. It was discovered a vehicle crashed through several sections of a fence, backed up and struck a bird feeder, and then damaged the yard while fleeing the scene.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was called to High Street in Glouster, for an incident report. The caller said she saw her bedroom door open and close. She believed someone could be inside the residence. Deputies checked the residence to ensure that the residence was empty.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an automated alarm in Hocking Port. Deputies responded to the premises and checked the building. Everything was found to be secure at that time.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was called to Union Lane in The Plains, for a theft report. The caller said sometime this past week his mountain bike was stolen from his property. There are no known suspects at this time.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office took a report of an incident between a landlord and tenant dispute over property. Tenant said her home was burglarized and property was taken. The landlord said all proper channels were taken for eviction and abandonment of the property, and the tenant’s property was removed. Parties were advised the issue was civil in nature.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office made contact with a resident of The Plains in reference to a hit skip accident that allegedly took place in Lakewood Ohio. The resident was asked to have their son to contact the Lakewood Police Department.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to S. Clinton Street in The Plains on a report of a pistol being found in the roadway. Upon arriving on scene, deputies located the pistol.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Lang Road in Nelsonville on a dispute over property. Neither party could show ownership of the property and similar reports from this location has occurred recently. Parties were again advised to stay off each other’s property and to consult with attorneys on this matter.

* A resident of Baker Road near the intersection of Ohio 681, reported his house had been burglarized. The caller decided to file report on so other residents would be aware of someone breaking into houses. At this time, it appears two or three fishing poles and two tackle boxes are missing.

* A burglary report was taken on Heatherstone Drive. The residence was entered through the back window and video footage of the suspect was provided. This case is currently under investigation.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office took a report of threats and harassment. The caller only wished to have a report on file.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Harner Road in Athens for a dispute involving a firearm. Deputies found the parties separated upon arrival. The initial complainant said the suspect came to confront the involved party and clearly saw a gun in his waistband. She said he was also heavily impaired which she attributed to alcohol consumption. The suspect’s mother arrived on scene and was able to get the weapon away from him. The involved party left the scene prior to deputies’ arrival, but the suspect was found in his residence passed out with vomit next to him. Deputies were able to determine a smell of alcohol coming from his breath along with slurred speech, red eyes, an inability to stand/walk, and erratic behavior. Deputies placed the suspect under arrest and charge him with using weapons while intoxicated. He was transported to South East Ohio Regional Jail.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Jacksonville for well-being check. The Dog Warden attempted to make contact with an individual and was advised by neighbors that she had not been seen in a few weeks. The responding deputy attempted to make contact with the resident but no contact was made.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a residence in Guysville in regard to a dispute. The complainant didn’t wish to pursue charges however, did want a no trespass against the other involved party.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Daily Road in Albany for a residential burglary alarm. Deputies checked that residence and determined there were no issues and it was a false alarm.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a residence in regard to a trespass complaint. Upon arriving, it was determined the female involved was having a reaction to her medication and was hallucinating. EMS was dispatched and she was transported for treatment.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office arrested Marty Tolliver on an active warrant for a felony indictment stemming from a drug investigation. Tolliver was transported to the regional jail.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was called to Setty Road in Albany, for an intrusion alarm. The building was checked and secured. A key holder arrived and reset the alarm.

ATHENS, Ohio — The Athens County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports Sept. 22:

Sept. 22

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office received a report of telecommunications harassment. The caller stated they had been receiving numerous harassing messages via text message and social media. Deputies made contact with the involved subject. They were advised that the original complainant did not wish to hear from them in any way and that further attempts to contact them could result in possible charges. The subject stated that they would not contact the complainant again. A report was taken to document the event should the behavior continue.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Oak Ridge Village apartments off Columbus Road for a noise complaint. The complainant stated they could not sleep due to their upstairs neighbor pounding on the floor with a hammer or heavy object. On scene, deputies met with the loud neighbor in question. She advised she thought her carpet was starting to come up and she felt the need to pound on it with a hammer. After discussing the woman’s ongoing mental health issues, deputies instructed the woman to go to bed. She was also advised to only conduct repairs during daylight hours and to consult the apartment complex management with any further concerns. No further action taken.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to State Route 13 near the Dog Shelter in Chauncey, on a male subject crawling around the side of the road with allegedly no shirt or shoes. A deputy arrived on scene making contact with the male with no shirt but was wearing shoes. Male subject was not under the influence and advised he was collecting rocks and picking flowers along the road. Male had no warrants and was allowed to continue.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Circle Drive in The Plains for an alarm. Deputies arrived on scene and met a homeowner who accidentally left something in the microwave too long. This made the homeowner panic and sounded an alarm. No further action.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Mill Street in Chauncey for a juvenile problem. Deputies met with a father who indicated his son was not listening to him, and refusing to go with him as court ordered. The son was upset due to the fact the father had suspicions he was using marijuana. Deputies assisted the family with methods of better communication, and cleared the scene. No further action.

Sept. 21

* A report was taken at the Sheriff’s Office regarding an assault which occurred earlier in the month of September. The complainant advised she only wished to have the report on file. Case closed.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was called to Canaanville Hills Road for a report of an alleged theft which had occurred around the date of Sept. 17, 2017. Statements were obtained from both the victim and alleged suspect and the matter remains under investigation until the video footage from the scene can be reviewed.

* A report was taken at the Sheriff’s Office regarding possible theft. At this time, this case is still under investigation.
