Athens Sheriff

ATHENS – The Athens County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports on April 20:

* On April 19, deputies were dispatched to Kimberly Road, Nelsonville, in reference to an abandoned vehicle in the roadway. Upon arriving on scene contact was made with the registered owner via telephone who advised the vehicle had been stolen from Nelsonville.

* On April 19, deputies took a report of a breaking and entering that occurred on Salem Road, Athens, earlier in the morning.

* On April 19, deputies responded to the Callaway Ridge Road in Coolville in reference to a report of a stolen dog. Deputies made contact with the complainant who could not confirm their pet had either ran off or had been stolen.

* On April 19, deputies responded to Green Meadows Trailer Park for a theft report.

* On April 19, deputies were dispatched to Johnson Hollow Road, Athens, for a report of a burglary. Upon arrival, deputies spoke to the complainant who stated that while at work, someone entered his residence and had taken items.

Athens Sheriff

ATHENS – The Athens County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports on April 18:

* On April 15, deputies were dispatched to Elm Rock Road, Nelsonville, for a report of a breaking and entering. Upon arrival, deputies spoke to the complainant who stated that someone had entered her residence through a window.

* On April 16, deputies were dispatched to Amesville for a report of a dispute. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the complainant who stated that a female had thrown rocks at her car causing damage. This matter is under investigation.

* On April 16, deputies responded to the Venue on Ohio 56 after receiving multiple complaints of loud music. Contact was made with the promoter of the event (Dominic Petrozzi) and he was advised to shut music off for the night. The band that was playing was immediately shut down.No further action was required.

* On April 16, a deputy responded to a residence on May Avenue in Dover Township in reference to a residence being forcibly entered and items stolen. The matter is under investigation.

* On April 16, deputies were called to Greens Run Road in Glouster for a drug overdose. Prior to deputies arrival Athens County Emergency Medical Services advised that the female was being transported to O’Bleness Memorial Hospital.

* On Apirl 16, deputies handled a report of mailbox vandalism in Millfield. The caller stated that sometime overnight, someone smashed their mailbox and broke the wooden post it was attached to. A report was taken in case further investigative leads could be established.

* On April 16, deputies responded to Columbus Road in reference to dispute between neighbors. A deputy handled the dispute; parties to remain separated.

* On April 16, deputies were dispatched to Glouster for a report of a theft of medication. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the complainant who stated that an acquaintance had stolen medication from their residence on Penn Street. This matter remains under investigation.

* On April 16, deputies were dispatched to Connett Road in Nelsonville for a report of a breaking and entering. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the complainant who stated that while away from the residence, someone had entered through a window but it appeared that nothing was taken from the residence. A report was taken as well as photos of the damage.

* On April 16, deputies were dispatched to Coolville for a report of a dispute. Upon arrival, deputies spoke to involved parties and it was determined that parties would separate for the evening.

* On April 16, deputies were dispatched to Oak Ridge Village Apartments for a report of a suspicious person on the backside of the apartments. Deputies patrolled the area and had negative contact with any person outside.

* On April 17, deputies were called to May Avenue in Chauncey for a report of a burglary. The complainant advised that when he was going to bed he had noticed that his closet door was open and that firearms were missing. This case is still under investigation.

* On April 17, deputies responded to a residence in Ames Township in reference to a 911 call reporting an unknown irate man with a gun was in a residence. Upon arrival, contact was made with the caller and roommates. They indicated the armed man, along with several other people who had been guests at the residence, was gone. The victim was going to speak with house guests who had left, and determine the identity of the suspect. Victim was advised if he determined the identity of the suspect and wanted to pursue criminal charges, to contact the sherriff’s office.

* On April 17, Trimble Mayor Doug Davis reported that someone struck the mailbox in front of the old post office on Congress Street with a vehicle causing heavy damage.

* On April 17, deputies were dispatched to May Avenue in Chauncey for a report of theft from a residence. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the complainant who stated that while working in his yard, someone had entered his home and had taken various items. This incident remains under investigation.

* On April 17, deputies were dispatched to The Plains for a suicide threat. Upon arrival, deputies were able to located the individual and contact emergency medical service to transport to the hospital for treatment.

* On April 17, deputies took a report of a stolen cell phone from Numbers Fest. This matter remains under investigation.

* On April 18, deputies received a complaint of an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound in Hollister. Deputies, Glouster Police and Athens County Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene. The victim was transported by helicopter due to the injuries.

The Athens County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports on April 19:

* On April 18, deputies took a report of a harassment via cell phone. Both parties were contacted and they agreed to not communicate with each other.

* On April 18, deputies were dispatched to Hockingport for a report of harassment. Upon arrival deputies collected a statement. This matter is under investigation.

* On April 18, a male from Guysville called in reporting that he was tired of living and was contemplating suicide. Deputies were able to take the male into custody without incident and he was transported by Athens County Emergency Medical Services to the hospital for treatment.

* On April 18, deputies responded to Oakdale Road in Glouster for a report of an assault that had occurred. Deputies met with the complainant and attained a statement from him but were unable to locate the other party involved.

* On April 18, a female called in regarding a theft that occurred in her home on Meadowbrook Road in Albany. Contact was attempted with the suspect but deputies were unable to locate him.

* On April 18, deputies responded to Mill Street, Chauncey, for a report of a burglary in progress. Deputies arrived on scene and secured the residence. No signs of entry into the residence were found. Deputies were given a description of the male and patrolled the Chauncey area but were unable to locate him.

* On April 18, deputies responded to a report of a possible prowler in the Stewart area. Deputies patrolled the area and checked the caller’s residence. No suspicious persons were found.

* On April 19, deputies assisted the Nelsonville Police Department in attempting to locate a suspect that had stolen a vehicle and led Nelsonville officers in a pursuit. The suspect had crashed his vehicle and fled on foot. Deputies checked the area on foot but did not locate the suspect.

Athens Sheriff

ATHENS – The Athens County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports on April 15:

* On April 14, deputies checked on a private residence in Athens to locate a female with an active warrant out of Athens County. Deputies transported Kristian M. Dolman, 21, to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail without incident and no further action was needed.

* On April 14, a report of a private property traffic accident came into the sheriff’s office. Parties called back stating they would just exchange information rather than waiting for a deputy.

* On April 14, a theft report came in on Del Carbo Road in New Marshfield. Serial numbers were collected for the property and the complainant had several leads on possible locations of the stolen items.

* On April 14, deputies received a report of a burglary at a residence in Albany. Deputies responded to the scene to collect information and evidence regarding the report. The incident will be referred to the Albany Village Police Department for follow-up.

Athens Sheriff

ATHENS – The Athens County Sheriff’s Department released the following reports on April 13:

* On April 12, Jessica Hutchins, 29, was arrested for a warrant out of Athens County. She was transported to the sheriff’s office without incident.

* On April 12, deputies were dispatched to Sawyers Run Road in Coolville for a report of theft from a vehicle. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the complainant who stated someone had entered his vehicle throughout the night. A report was taken as well as a list of items that were missing.

* On April 12, a female from Carr Bailey Road called in reporting that she observed an individual in a red Jeep in the area peering in her windows with binoculars. Units patrolled the area unable to make contact with the vehicle. Upon speaking with the complainant, it was determined the subject never left the roadway or committed any crimes.

* On April 12, deputies spoke with a complainant via telephone about attempting to retrieve items left at a ex-boyfriend’s residence. Deputies advised the complainant of the proper way to handle this as it is a civil matter.

* On April 12, deputies were dispatched to Chauncey for a report of harassment. Upon arrival, deputies spoke to the complainant who stated a neighbor had been harassing him. Deputies then spoke with the neighbor and advised him to stay away from the complainant’s address.

ATHENS – The Athens County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports on April 14:

* On April 13, deputies responded to the Oakridge Village Apartments on Columbus Road in Athens to assist the Richland Area Fire Department for a report of a chemical smell in the area. The area was checked and nothing was found.

* On April 13, deputies were called to a well-being check in The Plains. The female was found to be in need of medical care and was transported to the hospital.

* On April 13, deputies responded to a Rainbow Lake Road address for an open 911 line. Nothing could be heard on the line and the callback number could not be reached as though the phone was deactivated. After making contact with the resident, no assistance was needed.

* On April 13, deputies responded to Ohio 356, New Marshfield, in reference to a domestic dispute from the information the complainant gave. Male and female subjects advised no threats of violence or physical violence occurred.

* On April 13, Joshua Wolfenbarger, 26, of Nelsonville, was arrested and transported to Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail on an Athens Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear.

Athens Sheriff

ATHENS – The Athens County Sheriff’s Department released the following reports on April 12:

* On April 11, deputies responded to Trimble for a report of a dispute. Deputies arrived on scene and talked to all parties involved. This matter was handled without incident.

* On April 11, deputies responded to Fleming Road, Amesville, for an activated residential alarm. The residence was secured and the key holder was contacted.

* On April 11, deputies were dispatched to Carr Road, Nelsonville, for a report of an abandoned vehicle. Upon arrival, deputies placed a four hour warning tag on the vehicle. Deputies returned to patrol.

* On April 11, deputies initiated a traffic stop in reference to a suspect from a Glouster Police Department case that occurred shortly before. The vehicle was occupied by the suspect, officers responded and took control of the traffic stop. This matter is under investigation by the Glouster Police Department.

* On April 11, deputies were dispatched to Strouds Run, Athens, for a report of a residential alarm. Upon arrival, deputies checked the residence and found it to be secure with no signs of forced entry.

* On April 11, deputies were dispatched to Sand Ridge Road in Athens for a report of a vehicle that had fired shots from a roadway. Deputies and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources responded to the area. Units patrolled the area but had negative contact with the vehicle.

* On April 11, deputies were dispatched to Ohio 691 for a report of a dispute. Upon arrival deputies spoke to both parties and determined that no physical violence had occurred. Parties agreed to remain separated within the residence for the evening.

* On April 11, deputies responded to Frost Road in Coolville for a report of a dispute. Upon arrival, deputies determined that no threats of violence or physical violence had occurred. Parties agreed to separate for the evening.

* On April 11, deputies were called to Carr Road, Nelsonville, for a report of a male with a gun. Statements were obtained from the victim, suspect and witness persons. Based on evidence and obtained statements, Shane Gwinn, 35, was arrested for aggravated menacing. A firearm was obtained from his home and based on a conviction based disqualification, Gwinn was also charged with weapons under disability.

* On April 11, the Coolville Fire Department requested the assistance of the sheriff’s office for an abandoned house fire on Ohio 144. Upon arriving on scene, the fire chief advised that it was possible the fire was intentionally set. At that time, contact was made with the state Fire Marshal’s Office and the investigation will be handled by that agency.

* On April 12, deputies responded to a report of a person having severe mental health issues. Deputies arrived on scene and spoke with the person in question who was found to be delusional and acting irrational. This person was transported to O’Bleness Memorial Hospital Emergency Room for a mental health evaluation.

Athens Sheriff

ATHENS – The Athens County Sheriff’s Department released the following reports on April 11:

* On April 8, a deputy took a report of a stolen license plate from the New Marshfield area. The license plate FPQ6890 was taken. Anyone with information in reference to this theft is asked to contact the sheriff’s office.

* On April 8, four metal grates from Knollwood Court were taken during the night of April 7 to the morning of April 8. The grates dimensions are 69 inches wide x 88 inches long and 135 inches wide x 88 inches long. Contact the sheriff’s office with information.

* On April 8, deputies responded to the Williams Road in Athens in reference to a suspicious vehicle driving up a private drive and turning around. The complainant also advised that there is a gate on his property that the lock had been cut. After looking at the lock it and where it was cut it was heavily rusted. The complainant wished to have have a report on file and extra patrols in the area. Deputies advised the complainant that if they saw the vehicle again they should attempt to obtain a license plate.

* On April 8, Bryon Jones was arrested at 10 Beech Road, The Plains on an active warrant filed in Columbus by the Adult Parole Authority. Jones was transported to Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail on a holder.

* On April 8, deputies were traveling on N. Lancaster Street, Athens, when they observed what they believed to be an intoxicated female subject stumbling from the sidewalk into the roadway multiple times. When deputies turned around to make contact with the female subject with their emergency lights on for safety reasons, the female subject began to run and entered into a residence that was not hers. Athens Police Department arrived on scene and took the female subject into custody.

* On April 8, deputies took a walk-in complaint involving the unauthorized use of a credit-debit card. The complainant advised a debit card was used without his permission. A report was taken and is under investigation.

* On April 9, deputies were called to Brimstone Road in Coolville for an active dispute. The complainant advised that her boyfriend came home and started throwing things and screaming at her. Prior to deputies arrival the boyfriend had left the residence. The complainant advised that she did not wish to file charges at this time and would be staying at a friends house for the evening.

* On April 9, deputies were called by Ohio State Highway Patrol to look for a Maroon Ford Taurus for a possible operating a vehicle while intoxicated. The vehicle was located near Ohio 78 on Ohio 33. The driver was stopped and OSP responded to the scene and a field sobriety test was performed.

* On April 9, deputies took a walk-in complaint involving the unauthorized use of a credit-debit card. The complainant advised a debit card was used without his permission.

* On April 9, deputies were dispatched to Scatter Ridge Road, Athens, for a report of a dispute. Upon arrival, deputies spoke to the involved parties and determined that a physical dispute had taken place. Emmy Kennedy, 19, was arrested for domestic violence and transported to jail.

* On April 9, deputies took a report at a hunting cabin on Frost Road in Coolville. The cabin had forced entry and several items were taken from the residence. Several things taken include animal mounts of deer, bobcat, rams and a pheasant. This case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office.

* On April 9, deputies were dispatched to Hooper Ridge Road for a report of property damage. Upon arrival, the complainant stated that someone had ripped his mailbox off the post and would like to file a report for record.

* On April 9, deputies responded to Sams Road in Albany for a complaint made about a neighbor firing gun shots. According to the caller, his neighbor shoots often for long periods of time. There is was no criminal offense in regard to this complaint, but the complainant wanted it filed as he has contacted an attorney.

* On April 9, deputies were dispatched to State Route 550, Athens, to assist Athens County Emergency Medical Service with an intoxicated male. Deputies were advised that the male subject was having medical issues and was refusing treatment. Contact was made with the individual and it was deemed that due to his level of intoxication and the weather condition, it was unsafe to leave him on the side of the road. He was transported to the regional jail where he was held until sober.

* On April 10, deputies were dispatched to Roundhouse Road near New Marshfield for signs of a possible methamphetamine lab. A local resident discovered a large bag containing items they believed to be related to manufacturing methamphetamine. The bag had been discarded in a field near their residence. The site was secured and the items were collected. The incident is under investigation.

* On April 10, deputies were dispatched to Poston Station Road for a report of a vehicle accident without injury involving a deer. Upon arrival, deputies observed the deer to be mortally injured. Out of concern for public safety near the roadway, the deer was dispatched. No further action taken.

Athens Sheriff

ATHENS – The Athens County Sheriff’s Department released the following reports on April 6:

* On April 5, deputies arrested William Umbarger on a warrant out of Athens County at Knollwood Drive in Athens.

* On April 5, deputies responded to a call on Ohio 550 regarding a dispute between a home health agency and the patient’s family. Once on scene, deputies talked to both parties and the matter was handled without incident.

* On April 5, deputies took a report of seven storage units having the locks cut off them and entered at Pine Street Storage. If anyone has information pertaining to the recent thefts from vehicles or information of the storage units contact the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.

* On April 5, deputies took Dante Oliveri into custody after turning himself in to the sheriff’s office, without incident.

* On April 5, deputies were dispatched to Strouds Run Road for a report of theft. Upon arrival, deputies spoke to the complainant who stated he had returned home and found the residence had been entered and items were missing. This incident is under investigation.

* On April 5, deputies responded to River Road, Guysville, on a domestic dispute complaint. There were no charges filed and the male left for the night to prevent any further incidents.

* On April 5, deputies were dispatched to Main Street in Millfield for a report of a burglary. Upon arrival, deputies went into the residence and verified that it was secure. No further action taken.

* On April 5, deputies were dispatched to River Road to assist Emergency Medical Service. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the male. EMS was able to provide treatment. No further actions were taken.

* On April 5, deputies were dispatched to Carpenter Road in Albany for a complaint of a sound at her back porch. Deputies checked around the residence. Deputies found the residence to be secure.

ATHENS – The Athens County Sheriff’s Department released the following reports on April 7:

* On April 6, deputies took a report of a trespass that occurred on Fourth Street, The Plains. The trespasser was served with a trespass complaint by deputies.

* On April 6, deputies took a report of a tax return fraud. This matter is under investigation.

* On April 6, deputies responded to the Community Bank, Amesville, in reference to side door intrusion alarms. Upon arrival deputies made contact with an employee and it was found that a side door was found to be unlocked. Deputies cleared the Community Bank and no subjects were inside and nothing had been taken. No further actions were needed.

* On April 6, deputies responded to Steinmeyer Road, New Marshfield, in reference to a female subject’s mental well-being. Deputies made contact with the female and determined she was in need of mental health evaluation at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital. Female subject was transported without incident.

* On April 6, deputies responded to The Plains area for a report of stolen beer. A short time later the suspect was located and arrested. Jimmy Evans will be charged with theft, possession of marijuana, and disorderly conduct by intoxication.

* On April 6, deputies were sent to Ohio 682 for a report of an active domestic. Parties were separated for the remainder of the evening. No further action will be taken on this case.

* On April 6, deputies responded to Faith Baptist Church in New Marshfield for a possible breaking and entering. Upon deputies arriving the building was searched inside and out for a location of forced entry. No forced entry was detected. The complainant did not report anything stolen but stated it appeared some items had been moved around in different locations within the building. It is undetermined if the building was broken into.

ATHENS – The Athens County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports on April 8:

* On April 7, deputies received a complaint of a breaking and entering at an abandoned residence in Chauncey. This matter is under investigation.

* On April 7, a report of possible littering in progress came into the Athens County Sheriff’s Office. The caller said a truck had backed in, possibly to dump trash, but had gotten stuck. The area was located with the deep ruts in the mud but an official was unable to definitively locate any trash new to the area, though there was assorted litter on the ground in the vicinity. No further action taken.

* On April 7, deputies made contact on Hunterdon Road with a male with active warrants for his arrest. Josh Porter, 26, of New Marshfield, was transported to Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail without incident.

ATHENS – The Athens County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports on April 4:

* On April 1, deputies responded to an overdose at a Dover Township residence. The victim was taken to the O’Bleness Memorial Hospital Emergency Room for treatment.

* On April 1, deputies were dispatched to United Lane, Athens, for a two-vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

* On April 1, deputies took a report in Chauncey for a vehicle break-in on Sycamore Street and a knife taken.

* On April 1, a deputy was dispatched to Wrightstown Road for multiple 911 hang-up calls by kids.

* On April 1, deputies were dispatched to Coal Run Road for a backpack left on the side of the road. Deputies located the backpack and found it to be empty.

* On April 1, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Ohio 13. The driver, Adam Chase Locke, 25, of Athens, was wanted from Athens County and placed under arrest.

* On April 2, deputies responded to Broad Street, Glouster, for individuals entering an abandoned residence.

* On April 2, deputies responded to Johnson Road in The Plains for an active landlord-tenant dispute.

* On April 2, deputies took a report of a dog bite.

* On April 2, deputies took a report of a stolen utility trailer from BuckEye Cam in Athens.

* On April 3, deputies responded to Main Street, The Plains, for a breaking and entering of a vehicle.

* On April 3, deputies recovered and returned a purse found on North Plains Road.

* On April 3, deputies were dispatched to a residence in The Plains for a theft from a motor vehicle.

* On April 3, a resident of West Second Street in The Plains reported someone entered her car and stole her wallet.

* On April 3, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Johnson Road in The Plains for a theft from a motor vehicle.

* On April 3, a resident on Fifth Street in The Plains said someone entered three vehicles and took a gas card.

* On April 3, deputies were dispatched to The Plains for an overdose. Emergency Medical Services transported the female to the hospital.

ATHENS – The Athens County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports on April 5:

* On April 4, a complainant who reported a stolen ATV in August received information on where it may be located. A deputy responded to the possible residence on Ohio 685 and made contact with the homeowner. Permission was given to check the all-terrain vehicle which turned out not to be the stolen all-terrain vehicle. Residents were advised and thanked for their cooperation.

* On April 4, a resident of Johnson Road, The Plains, reported that sometime over the weekend of April 1 and April 3 someone entered their vehicle and scattered items throughout. Nothing was reported stolen.

* On April 4, a deputy assisting Bureau of Criminal Investigation delivered a message to a resident on Ervin Road in Athens. Contact was made and the message was delivered.

* On April 4, a resident of Ohio Avenue, The Plains, reported that her vehicle was entered over the weekend from April 1 to April 4 and several items were taken from the vehicle. A report was taken on the matter.

* On April 4, a deputy responded to Brimestone Road in Coolville on a parking complaint. Owner of the property stated a family member has left their vehicle on his property for five to six months and he would like it removed. Attempts were made to contact the owner with no success. Vehicle was tagged for 48 hours.

* On April 4, deputies were called to the area of West Bailey Road for a report of an abandoned vehicle. The vehicle was found to be listed as stolen by Athens Police Department; they were advised it had been located and took over the case.

* On April 4, a theft from a vehicle was reported on Mound Street, The Plains. No damage was done to the vehicle and some money was stolen from the inside.

* On April 4, deputies responded to Dollar General in The Plains in regard to a shoplifter. Upon deputies arriving, the suspect had already left. Deputies talked to store employees who advised a female entered the store, put several items in a cart and upon getting to the checkout, asked if she could leave the cart there while she ran out to her car briefly. The clerk noticed that the suspect’s purse appeared to be full, so the female was asked to come back into the store and open her purse. The female refused and ultimately left in a vehicle. The vehicle was described as a newer silver car. The female was a white female, with blonde hair with dark hair along the bottom and pink across the top.

* On April 4, deputies responded to Ohio 550 for a report of a burglary. At this time nothing has been identified as missing.

* On April 5, deputies were dispatched to York Township in reference to a theft report. Upon arriving on scene contact was made with the complainant who advised that on the previous day her ex-boyfriend used a spare key and entered her home while she was there. She advised that he took items that belonged to her from the home and would not return them. Deputies attempted to locate the male subject; however, they had negative contact. This matter remains under investigation.

* On April 5, deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive male along with Athens County Emergency Medical Service. ACEMS arrived on scene first and began life-saving measures. The male was transported to O’Bleness Memorial Hospital emergency room for further treatment.

Athens Sheriff

ATHENS – The Athens County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports on March 31:

* On March 30, deputies were dispatched to a private residence on Rock Run Road in Coolville for a report of mailbox vandalism. Deputies were met by the caller who stated he went out to his mailbox that morning and found someone had smashed it overnight. A report was taken in case the event could be tied to any other events in the area should they occur. The matter is considered closed pending the discovery of any new investigative leads.

* On March 30, deputies received a call about a male who was shooting at his neighbor’s trash can and mailbox on Ohio 56 in New Marshfield. Deputies made contact with the witnesses and patrolled the area but were unable to locate the male.

* On March 30, deputies responded to the West Second Street, The Plains, in reference to a male subject who called 911 advising he was feeling suicidal over the loss of his father a few years ago and was seeing shadows all around him and hearing voices. Athens County Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene and transported the male subject to O’Bleness Memorial Hospital for a mental evaluation.

* On March 30, deputies received a complaint of harassment from a York Township resident. Deputies made contact with parties that were involved. No crime had occurred and both parties were advised to not have contact with each other if they could not be civil.

* On March 30, deputies received a report of a dispute at a residence in Dover Township. Deputies responded to the scene and spoke with the involved parties. It was alleged that one party had taken too much medication, and after observing the subject it appeared so. That subject was transported to O’Bleness Memorial Hospital Emergency Room to be medically cleared.

* On March 30, deputies responded to Sawyers Run Road, Coolville, in reference to a complaint of a possible trespasser. Upon making contact with the complainant and not having proof of such persons trespassing, the complainant was advised to obtain trail cams to be able to capture photos. The deputy advised he would go to speak with the possible suspect and advise them to be more cautious of walking on property lines.

* On March 30, a property damage report came in from the Broadwell area. Photos and evidence were collected on scene. Case is active.

* On March 30, deputies received a 911 call from a resident on Columbus Road in Athens in regard to a crime occurring. Deputies responded to the scene and did not observe any signs of what was reported. Deputies attempted to make contact with the caller but were unable to. Deputies then were advised from the Athens Police Department that the caller had made homicidal threats on March 29 in Athens. Deputies spoke with a neighbor who advised that prior to deputies arriving the caller was shouting that he had taken a bunch of medication and did not feel well. Deputies heard the caller inside mumbling incoherently; however, he would not respond to deputies. Entry was forced into the apartment due to exigent circumstances. The caller was very lucid and mostly confused as to why deputies were there. The person stated he did not remember placing the call to 911. The caller was transported to O’Bleness Memorial Hospital Emergency Room to be medically cleared and checked by Hopewell Health.

* On March 30, deputies were dispatched to Washington Road in Albany, Ohio, to assist Athens County Emergency Medical Services with a possible overdose. The caller advised that the male subject there had taken several pills and had consumed alcohol. Upon arriving on scene, the male subject was located sleeping in bed. He confirmed that he had consumed alcohol and had taken multiple over the counter pain pills. When asked why he took them, he stated because he wanted to. The male subject was transported to O’Bleness Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.

* On March 31, deputies were dispatched to Trimble Township where the caller advised that another individual was in his house with a knife. Upon arriving, contact was made with the caller and his parents. It was discovered that the caller was suffering from mental health issues and needed to go to the hospital. He was transported to O’Bleness Memorial Hospital to be evaluated.

* On March 31, deputies responded to Taylor Ridge where the caller advised he was harassed earlier in the evening by people who were in the cemetery. Upon making contact he advised that he saw people driving through the grass in the cemetery near his home, and when he told them to stay on the road, they began to yell at him. He advised that they stopped in front of his home and continued to yell at him. He did not know who they were. Later on an unrelated call deputies identified the individuals and advised them to stay off the grass in the cemetery.

* On March 31, deputies were dispatched to Jacksonville where the caller advised he was receiving threatening text messages from another male subject. Upon arriving on scene contact was made with the caller who advised that his friend was texting him in reference to property in which they had entered into an agreement on. The caller advised that they had both been consuming alcohol and all he wanted was to deal with this issue in the morning. Deputies spoke with the other half via telephone and explained the situation. He advised he would stop and deal with this in the morning. The caller advised this was all he wanted done. Case closed.

ATHENS – The Athens County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports on April 1.

* On March 31, a deputy took a report of a mailbox being damaged at the Blue Heron campground on Ohio 144 in Coolville. Anyone having information on this incident is asked to contact the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.

* On March 31, deputies were dispatched to a private residence in Coolville for a report of a stolen vehicle. Deputies met with the caller who stated that overnight his truck was stolen from where he parked it while he and a friend were hiking. A report was taken and the incident is under investigation.

* On March 31, deputies were dispatched to a Coolville residence for a landlord/tenant dispute. Once on scene deputies spoke with both parties and determined the issue to be a civil matter with no criminal activity. Deputies referred involved individuals to the appropriate courts. No further action is needed at this time.

* On March 31, deputies were dispatched to a church in New Marshfield for a report of a breaking and entering. Deputies were met by church staff who discovered that sometime overnight unknown subjects broke through an exterior door and entered the building. Money, tools and other items were reported missing. A report was initiated and the event is under investigation.

* On March 31, deputies were dispatched to a private residence in New Marshfield for a domestic dispute. Family members met deputies and expressed concern that a relative needed to be seen for psychiatric or emotional care. After speaking with all involved individuals, deputies determined no intervention was needed at that time. Family members agreed to separate for the remainder of the evening.

* On March 31, deputies were dispatched to Dollar General in The Plains for a report of shoplifting. Once on scene deputies were met by store staff who had stopped a woman attempting to leave the store with items without paying for them. The suspect admitted the items were not hers. A summons for the charge of theft was issued for her appearance in court.

* On March 31, a report came in that utilities were being terminated to a residence by the landlord. This matter remains under investigation.

* On March 31, deputies responded to Frost Road, Coolville, in reference to a report of theft. Upon arrival deputies made contact with the complainant he advised that his hunting cabin had been entered within the last week and had two TVs stolen and a cordless drill. The complainant advised there was no forced entry on the house.

* On March 31, deputies responded to Vanderhoof Road in Coolville in reference to a suspicious vehicle at the end of a driveway. Upon the deputies arrival in the area and patrolling of the area, there was negative contact made with the vehicle.

* On March 31, deputies assisted the Drug Enforement Administration in a consent search at a residence in Carthage Township. Deputies met with DEA and assisted in the search.

* On March 31, an assault was reported on Hamley Shortcut Road in New Marshfield. This matter remains under investigation.

* On March 31, deputies made contact with an intoxicated driver after an initiated traffic stop on W. Union Street, Athens. An investigation conducted and Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the scene and arrested the driver for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

* On April 1, deputies responded to Kochis Road in Glouster for a report of attempted breaking and entering. The caller advised there were three men trying to get into his house. Upon arrival, deputies were unable to locate the males and spoke with the homeowner who stated they took off and he could not obtain a vehicle description.
