Wood Magistrate

PARKERSBURG — Wood County Magistrate Court heard the following cases on Jan. 29:

* Michael Travis, 21, 2007 Fourth Ave., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to a charge of obstruction and as part of a plea agreement was dismissed on a charge of failure to render information; he was assessed $220.25 in court costs and fines.

* Lindsey Tornes, 28, 2925 State Route 676, Marietta, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and shoplifting. She was sentenced to one year probation, assessed $355.50 in court and fines and ordered to pay a civil penalty of $332.46 to the victim. As part of a plea agreement she was dismissed on a charge of fleeing.

* Michael Wyatt, 51, 52 Hickory Heights Road, Mineral Wells, pleaded no contest to a charge of no insurance; he was assessed $370.25 in court costs and fines.

* Jason Pearson, 22, 413 Eighth St., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to a charge of shoplifting; he was sentenced to six months jail with credit for 135 days, assessed $270.25 in court costs and fines and ordered to pay a civil plenty of $567.94 to the victim.

* Claudia Collins, 38, 131 Cloverleaf Road, Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to a charge of shoplifting and as part of a plea agreement was dismissed on a charge of trespassing. She was assessed $190.25 in court costs and fines and ordered to pay a $160.22 civil penalty to the victim.
