Williamstown Police seek grandmother after child’s meth exposure

Alexis Rachele Thompson

WILLIAMSTOWN — Two felony warrants have been issued for a woman after her granddaughter was reportedly exposed to methamphetamine.

The Williamstown Police Department said in a post on its Facebook page that it is looking for Alexis Rachele Thompson, 35, of Clarksburg, on charges of child neglect resulting in serious bodily and child neglect creating substantial risk of death.

The charges are the result of an investigation that began Oct. 5 after officials at WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center reported a 23-month-old female had been brought to the hospital after being exposed to meth, the post said.

Williamstown Police Chief Shawn Graham said the victim was taken to WVU Medicine Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown for further treatment on the same day the exposure was discovered.

A search warrant was executed at Thompson’s room at the Gold Star Micro Apartments at 1339 Highland Ave. in Williamstown. Graham said Thompson is the victim’s grandmother.

Items from the room were sent to the West Virginia State Police lab for testing, resulting in a positive test for methamphetamine. Warrants for Thompson’s arrest were obtained after the test results were received in late November.

Thompson is described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing approximately 125 pounds with dark hair and hazel eyes, according to the post.

Additional information on the status of the child was unavailable.

The Police Department is asking anyone with information about Thompson’s whereabouts to contact 304-485-8501
