Person injured in ATV accident

CAIRO, W.Va. — Authorities in Ritchie County on Saturday responded to an ATV accident on Marietta Run Road, according to the Cairo Fire-EMS Department.
A person who was trapped by the accident was flown by medical helicopter to the hospital and a firefighter also was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, the department said in a Facebook post.
The accident happened at 7:20 p.m. Saturday, the department said.
“Crews worked quickly in extremely dangerous conditions to extricate the patient,” the department said. “One patient was flown by HealthNet Aeromedical Services, one firefighter was later taken.”
The Ellenboro Volunteer Fire Department assisted with rescue operations. The Ritchie County Sheriff’s Office, State Police, Ritchie County OES and Deerwalk VFD also responded.
