BELPRE — Belpre City Council is considering changing its meeting time in the future.
Council’s Rules Committee met prior to Monday’s meeting to discuss a possible time change for the regular council meetings.
Committee chair Penne Riffle said the discussion regarding the time change was favorable and said legislation to move the council meeting time from 7:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. will be prepared for council’s consideration and possible approval. If everything is approved, the new meeting time could go into effect in September, Riffle said.
In other business, council approved the second reading of two resolutions, one for the tax budget and one for review of the Public Depository legislation. One more reading will be held at a future council meeting.
Council also approved the second and third readings of a resolution authorizing the city to participate in the annual Community Housing Impact and Preservation program.
In her report to council, Mayor Susan Abdella said the Rockland Avenue paving project is underway and the city is working hard to complete the project with all the rain delays.
The city has held two meetings with WWW Intrastate Planning Commission to discuss paving and road safety concerns.
“We will be working to develop a paving plan for the federal roads as they are currently scheduling 28/29 funds. We have not had a strong plan in the past to be able to schedule these types of projects,” she said.
Abdella said a meeting will be held at 6 p.m. June 16 at the city building where Architectural Structure Point will be presenting its park plan. The meeting is open to all citizens.
The 28th Mid-Ohio Valley MultiCultural Festival will be June 20-22 in Civitan Park, Abdella said. The event is usually held at City Park in Parkersburg but is moving this year due to construction work at City Park.
