Wood County BOE to consider middle school boundary lines Tuesday

PARKERSBURG — The Wood County Board of Education plans to celebrate the athletic and academic achievements of area students Tuesday night and vote on the boundary lines for Hamilton and Jackson Middle Schools for the upcoming academic year.
The board will recognize students who completed the i-Ready program, the state science fair winners, state wrestling tournament winners from all three high schools and state champion swimmers.
The board will also hear updates on the Caperton Center for Advanced Technology from West Virginia University at Parkersburg President Torie Jackson, Martin Elementary access road and new Vienna elementary from Pickering Associates President and CEO Ryan Taylor and the boundary/attendance lines for Hamilton and Jackson Middle Schools for 2025-26 by Assistant Superintendent of Academics and Leadership Justin Hartshorn.
The board will consider whether to accept the proposed boundary line that would send students south of Memorial Bridge Road to 19th Street, Dudley Avenue and Emerson Avenue to Hamilton and those to the north to Jackson.
During the regular agenda, the board will also vote on appointments of a number of assistant principals for schools throughout the district including Hamilton, Jackson and Williamstown middle schools.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. in the Jefferson Elementary Center auditorium. The meeting is open to the public and will be streamed online.
