Northbound lanes of I-77 closed between Williamstown, Marietta

WILLIAMSTOWN – Northbound lanes of Interstate 77 are closed between the Williamstown and Marietta exits after a bridge strike, the West Virginia Department of Transportation announced.

A piece of equipment on the back of a truck hit the bridge just after 8 a.m., a release from the department said. Inspectors and bridge engineers from the Ohio Department of Transportation are at the site evaluating damage to the bridge.

A release from the West Virginia Division of Highways says the lanes will be closed until 4 p.m., with northbound traffic being detoured onto West Virginia 14, through Williamstown to Marietta.
