PARKERSBURG — The Parkersburg Police Department is looking for information on who was responsible for a drive by shooting in south Parkersburg Tuesday evening.

In a press release from Parkersburg Police Chief Matthew Board, officers responded at around 9:15 p.m. to the 2500 block of 21st Avenue, which is a residential area consisting of an apartment complex in reference to a gunshots call.

“Officers were advised that several gunshots were fired from a vehicle traveling on 21st Avenue into the apartment complex and the vehicle had fled the area,” the release said. “Upon arriving on the scene officers located evidence indicating that numerous shots had been fired appearing to target a single apartment that was occupied at the time of the shooting.”

Although it appeared the shooter may have been targeting a single apartment some of the gunshots either traveled completely through the apartment striking adjacent residences or struck the neighboring apartment, the release said.

Officers were on the scene for several hours interviewing witnesses, collecting evidence and searching for surveillance video.

This is an ongoing investigation and anyone having information related to this investigation is asked to contact Detective M. Brown at 304-424-1070 or call the non-emergency dispatch number, 304-485-8501.

There were no injuries reported from this incident.

“At this time this is being investigated as a certain person or group of persons being targeted and do not feel the general public is in danger,” the release said.
