Status hearing set for man arrested in Vienna Walmart incident

PARKERSBURG — A Belpre man arrested in October after allegedly walking through the Vienna Walmart with a pistol in his hand has been scheduled for a status hearing in Wood County Circuit Court.

Keith Allen Crace, 51, will appear before Wood County Circuit Judge Jason Wharton at 10:30 a.m. May 23.

Crace was recently indicted on charges of wanton endangerment involving a firearm and brandishing a deadly weapon after allegedly walking through the Vienna Walmart with a gun last October.

Court documents said he was found to be in possession of a .45-caliber pistol with a bullet in the chamber and had said he “wanted to go into Walmart and scare people with a firearm.”

According to the Vienna Police, numerous people on scene indicated Crace had the weapon in his hand and was pointing it in front of him while inside the store prior to police arrival.

A motion has been filed indicating he will be using an insanity defense in his case.
