Authorities probing reported fight between Belpre High School principal, student

BELPRE — Posts have been circulating social media platforms in the area that alleged a fight breaking out between the Belpre High School Principal Samuel Pepper and a student with special needs. Belpre Police Department Sgt. Heddleston confirmed Sunday evening that he did respond to the High School during their Homecoming Dance after receiving a call about fighting between Pepper and a juvenile, and that there is an active investigation at this time.

Heddleston had no comments to provide on whether or not the juvenile was special needs.

“At this time no charges have been filed against either party and the case will be sent to the City Prospector’s office (Andrew Webber) and the Washington County Prosecutors Office (that handles juvenile cases) for review and they will decide if any charges are warranted,” said Heddleston.

Belpre City Schools Superintendent Jeff Greenly said that “We (Belpre City Schools) will work closely with the Belpre Police Department as they conduct their investigation and we are investigating into the matter as well.”
