Police: Medical issue caused six-vehicle crash in Vienna
VIENNA — A six-vehicle accident Tuesday night on Grand Central Avenue in Vienna resulted from a medical incident with one of the drivers, the Vienna Police Department said.
The police department was dispatched around 8:40 p.m. to the 1100 block of Grand Central Avenue in front of Sam’s Club where Steven Kuhl, 63, of Vienna, lost control of a 2012 GMC Sierra, the police department said. Kuhl had a medical issue causing the accident, the department said.
He struck a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Jordan Mace, 26, of Vienna, which sustained minor damage, the police department said. Kuhl then struck a 2012 Ford Edge driven by Jason Thompson, 46, of Vienna.
The Thompson vehicle sustained significant damage, the department said.
Kuhl then struck a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu driven by a juvenile, then struck a Yamaha motorcycle driven by Dana Persinger Jr., 33, of Vienna, who was taken to WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, the police department said.
The next vehicle struck by Kuhl was a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse driven by Pamela Smith, 42, of Parkersburg, the department said. The vehicle sustained moderate damage, the department said.
All vehicles were traveling north, the department said.
The airbag in Kuhl’s vehicle activated and he also was taken to the hospital, the department said. No citations were issued and the accident remains under investigation, the department said.
