Meigs Sheriff, U.S. Marshals check sex offenders compliance
POMEROY, Ohio — The Meigs County Sheriff’s Office teamed with the United States Marshals Service on Friday for a sex offender compliance check.
Sheriff’s deputies and deputies with the U.S. Marshals Service Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (S.O.F.A.S.T.) went to 50 addresses in Meigs County to verify the residential status of registered sex offenders. Forty-four sex offenders were found to be in compliance with correct reporting and proper regulations.
Two sex offenders were found to be out of compliance with regulations and reporting their correct residential address, according to a release from Meigs County Sheriff Keith Wood. Their cases will be presented before a Meigs County grand jury.
Deputies were unable to make contact with the subjects at four residences and will follow up in the coming days, the release said.
