Hinger to serve as Glenville State College Pioneer
GLENVILLE — A junior from Nettie, W.Va., has been named the Glenville State College Pioneer mascot for 2021-2022.
Daniel Hinger is president of Sigma Omega Beta fraternity, parliamentarian for Glenville State’s chapter of the National Association for Music Education, a Student Government Association senator and a member of the school’s eSports program. He also participates in musical ensembles including the Concert Band, Pep Band, Marching Band, Brass Ensemble, Trumpet Ensemble and the Jazz Big Band.
Hinger becomes the 81st student to be the Pioneer. Sophomore Kateland Clark is the alternate Pioneer for the season.
“I’m looking forward to being able to spread school spirit and really engage everyone as the GSC Pioneer,” Hinger said. “I hope to see people out at games and at different activities keeping the excitement up.”
As the Pioneer, Hinger will attend football and basketball games, tournaments and other school events. The Pioneer is charged with working with students, faculty and staff to promote and support the college.
The uniform of the Pioneer is buckskins, a coonskin hat and a musket.
