Wood County Commission completes year’s Board of Equalization efforts
PARKERSBURG — The Wood County Commission on Monday completed the 2021 Board of Equalization and Review schedule without conducting any hearings.
As the board, commissioners can consider challenges to property valuations made by the county assessor’s office and make adjustments, if necessary. Commissioners recommend property owners address their concerns first with the assessor’s staff, and that appeared to take care of all the issues this year, Commission President Blair Couch said.
“It’s really going to say that (Assessor) Dave Nohe and his staff have done a good job alleviating any concerns,” he said.
Also during Monday’s meeting, commissioners placed David Raines in nomination to serve on the Union-Williams Public Service District board. Raines said he works at Chemours and has 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering systems. Commissioners will vote on his confirmation to the board next week.
