PARKERSURG — A Newcomerstown man was arrested over the weekend after inciting a high-speed chase with Parkersburg law enforcement.

Michael Dean Webb II, 29, 16457 Liberty Road, Newcomerstown, fled from officers following a report of a suspicious person or vehicle parked on Hill Street, according to a criminal complaint filed with the Wood County Magistrate Court.

Law enforcement took Webb’s information and while law enforcement was in their cruiser, Webb drove away, the complaint said.

Webb drove through a stop sign and the officer attempted to pull him over but he continued to drive through Parkersburg and he ended driving 75 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone, the complaint said.

On several occasions, Webb nearly lost control of the vehicle, according to the complaint.

During the pursuit, Webb threw something out the window before running several stop signs and nearly striking the officer’s vehicle, the complaint said.

After turning behind Fanelli Boys on Seventh Street, Webb struck a piece of yard equipment behind the wall of a building, the complaint said.

Webb then exited the vehicle and tried to jump over a fence before being apprehended by police dog Drago.

Webb is being charged with fleeing in a vehicle with reckless indifference and was being held at North Central Regional Jail.
