Authorities allege man, woman tried to steal catalytic converter

PARKERSBURG — Two Davisville residents were arrested after attempting to steal a catalytic converter from a vehicle in the south side Lowe’s parking lot.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Wood County Magistrate Court, last October, Scott Dewayne Bush, 41, 47 Elm St., Davisville, and Crystal Nichole Ventimiglia, same address, were involved in the incident.

Bush and another man cut off and attempted to steal two catalytic converters valued at more than $1,000 and caused damage in the process, the complaint said.

Photos taken showed the damage that affected oxygen sensors and heat shields valued at more than $2,500, the complaint said.

Ventimiglia allegedly drove Bush and another man to the Lowe’s parking lot and acted as a lookout as the two men performed the theft, according to the complaint.

The group was pulled over for a traffic stop and the officer noticed evidence of the crime; one of the group members issued a statement about the incident.

Bush and Ventimiglia were charged with conspiracy to commit grand larceny, destruction of property and the conspiracy to commit a felony. Both were released on a $10,000 surety bond.
