MOV Health Department filling vaccination slots from standby list

UPDATE: Those age 65 and older who do not have Internet access can get on the standby list by calling 211 between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

PARKERSBURG – The Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department announced early this morning it will fill all the appointments for Thursday’s COVID-19 vaccination clinic from its standby list.

“We know and understand this will not be a popular decision,” the department said on its Facebook page. “The state was notified of our decision. Our reason for this is because as of this morning, we have over 5,000 people on the standby list since (Tuesday.)”

The department will be filling 500 appointments from that list and will start calling people this morning.

“The list is time/date stamped from when they were placed on it and they will receive calls, but no voicemail messages will be left,” the department said. “If you do not answer, we will leave you on the list, but will move on to the next person on the list.

“Unfortunately, there is no good way for us to handle these requests and we want to be fair and equitable so we will continue to accept people to the standby list,” the department said.
