Two COVID-19 deaths in Wetzel County

PARKERSBURG — West Virginia officials announced 20 COVID-19-related deaths Wednesday, including two Wetzel County residents.

A 99-year-old woman and 95-year-old man from Wetzel County were among those whose deaths were confirmed in the 24-hour period before the state Department of Health and Human Resources’ daily 10 a.m. report. The youngest of the victims was a 25-year-old Cabell County resident.

“Today is a difficult day as our state continues to feel the effects of this terrible pandemic,” said DHHR Secretary Bill Crouch. “Our hearts go out to the families who have lost loved ones and to those who are currently battling COVID-19. We must continue to pull together as a state and community in fighting this virus and protecting our fellow West Virginians.”

Virus statistics for Mid-Ohio Valley counties Wednesday were:

* Calhoun: 29 active cases, 53 recovered, 74 total confirmed, 8 total probable, 3,703 tests, 0 deaths.

* Doddridge: 19 active, 107 recovered, 102 total confirmed, 27 total probable, 2,488 tests, 3 deaths.

* Gilmer: 51 active, 163 recovered, 202 total confirmed, 12 total probable, 4,614 tests, 0 deaths.

* Jackson: 66 active, 620 recovered, 687 total confirmed, 26 total probable, 13,293 tests, 27 deaths.

* Pleasants: 42 active, 58 recovered, 87 total confirmed, 17 total probable, 3,274 tests, 4 deaths.

* Ritchie: 72 active, 109 recovered, 152 total confirmed, 33 total probable, 4,672 tests, 4 deaths.

* Roane: 58 active, 130 recovered, 181 total confirmed, 10 total probable, 8,022 tests, 3 deaths.

* Tyler: 23 active, 125 recovered, 115 total confirmed, 34 total probable, 3,693 tests, 1 death.

* Wetzel: 60 active, 351 recovered, 295 total confirmed, 130 total probable, 7,414 tests, 14 deaths.

* Wirt: 41 active, 78 recovered, 93 total confirmed, 27 total probable, 1,851 tests, 1 death.

* Wood: 998 active, 1,692 recovered, 2,096 total confirmed, 612 probable, 44,342 tests, 18 deaths.
