Wood County Schools reports two COVID-19 cases

PARKERSBURG — Two new COVID19 cases involving Wood County Schools were reported Friday.

Wood County Schools released statements Friday afternoon reporting it had been informed of a positive COVID-19 case at Hamilton Middle School and another at Jackson Middle School.

The school district said it already taken steps to inform individuals that were believed to be directly exposed to the positive individual. For any who have not been contacted by the principal or school nurse, no action is needed at this time.

The Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department is working closely with Wood County Schools to identify any other potential persons who may have had close contact with either of the individuals that tested positive for COVID-19. If the MOVHD determines contact has occurred with the positive individual, those people will be contacted accordingly.

Wood County Schools will continue to take appropriate actions, working in collaboration with the health department, to protect the safety and well-being of students and staff.
