Road projects to cause traffic delays

CHARLESTON — Substantial delays are anticipated beginning Monday on Roane County 14/9, Oak Drive, where a slip will be repaired, the West Virginia Division of Highways said.

Crews from the division and GSI will work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.daily through Oct. 10, the division said. Delays of up to an hour are possible and motorists are asked to plan ahead and are encouraged to use alternate routes if possible.

Minor delays are anticipated in another project on Roane County Road 25, Linden-Tariff Road, where starting on Thursday Kelly Paving will resurface Linden-Tariff Road from West Virginia 36 to Roane County Road 27, Sycamore Road.

Crews will work from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day through Sept. 28. Flaggers and a pilot truck will be used to maintain two-way traffic.

Inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances could change the project schedules.

In Washington County, the Ohio Department of Transportation District 10 in Marietta, reported the following projects are under way:

A rehabilitation project is taking place on I-77 between the West Virginia line and Ohio 821 (Exits 1 and 6). The project involves resurfacing, guardrail, shoulder, drainage, and concrete barrier work. One lane is closed in each direction. Estimated completion is June 4.

Ramp closures are scheduled from Sept. 21-30 at the northbound I-77 entrance ramp off of Ohio 7 south for resurfacing and guardrail work. Traffic will be detoured using Ohio 7 south to Ohio 60 north to Ohio 821 north to the Exit 6 northbound entrance ramp.

Ramp closures are scheduled from Oct. 5-14, the northbound I-77 exit ramp for Exit 1 for resurfacing and guardrail work. Traffic will be detoured using I-77 north to Exit 6, then south on Ohio 821 and re-entering I-77 south to Exit 1.

Lane closures are in place on Ohio 7 between Moore’s Junction and Ohio 550 for a resurfacing project with drainage, guardrail, and other work. Estimated completion is Oct. 2.

A lane of Ohio 821 is closed between Stanleyville-Narrows Road (Township Road 16) and Dunbarger Road (Township Road 318) for a rockfall mitigation project. Temporary traffic signals and a 12 foot width restriction are in place. Estimated completion is Nov. 1.

A lane of Ohio 339 is closed between Sweetapple Road and Mary Avenue for construction of a left turn lane, school drive rehabilitation, and construction of a school access roadway. Temporary traffic signals and a 12 foot width restriction are in place. Estimated completion is Oct. 30.

A lane of Ohio 60 is closed 1.5 miles south of Lowell due to a landslide. Temporary traffic signals and a 12 foot width restriction are in place. Estimated completion is June 30.

A lane of Ohio 821 is closed between Buells Run (Township Road 86) and Peaker Run (Township Road 327) due to a landslide. Temporary traffic signals and a 14 foot width restriction are in place. Estimated completion is Dec. 31.

Ohio 676 (Lancaster Street) is closed in Marietta between Ohio 7 and Douglas Avenue for curb, guardrail, sidewalk and drainage. The detour is Ohio 7 to Ohio 550 to Ohio 339 to Ohio 676. Estimated completion is Oct. 19.

A lane of Ohio 26 is closed between Sackett Run Road (Township Road 67) and Ohio 260 due to a landslide. Temporary traffic signals and a 12 foot width restriction are in place. Estimated completion is Jan. 1.

One lane of Ohio 339 is closed between Woodruff Road (Township Road 230) and Ohio 676 for a bridge replacement project. Temporary traffic signals are in place. Estimated completion is Nov. 15.
