Gary Clark appears via Skype for preliminary hearing
PARKERSBURG — A man who was arrested and charged with making threats of terrorist acts last week after an armed standoff with law enforcement at the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department appeared via Skype before Wood County Magistrate Robin Waters on Tuesday afternoon.
Brad Frum, the attorney representing Gary Clark, 71, of Liverpool, W.Va., made a motion for continuance after a competency evaluation which was accepted by Waters.
“Nothing is going to be on the outcome of this today,” Waters said to Clark.
The next hearing will not yet be scheduled until Clark undergoes a mental evaluation, Waters said.
Last week, Clark went to the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department with a gun and made threats with it, according to a press release from the Vienna Police Department.
Clark is being held at North Central Regional Jail on a $200,000 bond.
