Eagle Pointe Skilled Nursing Center contractor tests positive
PARKERSBURG –A contractor at a Parkersburg skilled nursing facility tested positive for COVID-19.
Eagle Pointe Skilled Nursing Center on 27th Street and the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department announced Tuesday evening that the individual had contact with a small number of patients at Eagle Pointe and wore appropriate personal protective equipment while there on Friday.
The facility is working collaboratively with the Health Department and testing all patients and employees out of an abundance of caution, according to a joint news release. That process is expected to be complete by noon today.
One positive COVID-19 test at a skilled nursing center qualifies as an “outbreak” to the State of West Virginia.
“The only case we are aware of is the contractor who visited Eagle Pointe on Sept. 11. The staff at Eagle Pointe and the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department remain focused on protecting all patients and employees while preventing the spread of COVID-19,” said Kristin Anderson, director of marketing for Stonerise Health Care, the parent company of Eagle Pointe.
