Wood County BOE to discuss PHS programs, personnel
PARKERSBURG — The Wood County Board of Education meets in special session today to approve personnel changes and receive a presentation on academic programs at Parkersburg High School.
The board meets at 5 p.m. today. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, residents are asked to virtually attend through the Zoom meetings app. A full agenda and link to the meeting can be found on the Wood County Schools website at www.woodcountyschoolswv.com under Menu: Policies: Meetings.
In addition to personnel changes and financial matters, the board will receive an overview of class and program offerings at Parkersburg High School. Similar presentations on programs at Parkersburg South High School and Williamstown High School have recently come before the board to give members a better understanding of class offerings at each school.
The board also is expected to approve a resolution asking for the federal government to pass a financial relief plan for public education. The school system has struggled with increased costs due to the COVID-19 pandemic which shut down schools nationwide at the end of the 2019-20 school year and has led to uncertainty concerning the start of the 2020-21 school year.
