Wood County BOE meets Tuesday
High school programs, reopening plans on agenda
PARKERSBURG –The Wood County Board of Education will meet Tuesday to receive presentations on high school programs and an update on a possible school reopening plan.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. through the Zoom meetings app. A full agenda and link to the meeting can be found on the Wood County Schools website at www.woodcountyschoolswv.com under Menu: Policies: Meetings.
Those wishing to address the board must do so in person, though limitations on the number of people allowed in the board room remain in place. Speakers will be brought in one at a time.
The board will hear presentations on programs of study from Parkersburg South High School and Williamstown High School.
Superintendent Will Hosaflook will update the school board on a draft reentry plan for the fall and proposed changes to the 2020-21 school year calendar. Officials are retooling the district’s plan and calendar after receiving reopening guidance from the West Virginia Department of Education and after Gov. Jim Justice pushed the opening date for all schools to Sept. 8.
Hosaflook said any reentry plan will have to be approved by the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department before being brought to the board for approval. A revised calendar will be submitted to the West Virginia Board of Education after being approved by the local board.
