Parkersburg officials planning pro-police rally
PARKERSBURG — A “Back the Blue, Back the Badge” rally is being organized by two members of Parkersburg City Council.
The march on Market Street from Eighth to Second street is planned for 5 p.m. July 18, said Councilwoman Sharon Kuhl and Councilman Bob Mercer.
“It’s just a way for our community to show our officers that we support them 100 percent and we’re behind them,” Mercer said.
Kuhl said participants are asked to wear masks and practice social distancing to the extent possible.
People are also encouraged to order “Back the Blue” T-shirts from the Shirt Factory and wear them to the event, Kuhl said. The shirts are being sold as a fundraiser for the Fraternal Order of Police Blennerhassett Lodge 79’s annual Shop with a Cop program.
