No injuries, suspect in custody after pistol fired during Parkersburg altercation

PARKERSBURG – The Wood County Sheriff’s Department has made an arrest following a domestic altercation involving a firearm Saturday afternoon.

According to Sgt. D. Cross with the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, Mathew C. Murray, 20, of Parkersburg was charged with two counts of wanton endangerment after allegedly firing a pistol into the ground near a vehicle five times.

“There was an ongoing altercation between Murray, his mother and grandmother, and when the two women got into the vehicle to leave he discharged the firearm,” said Cross.

According to Cross, there were no injuries and the suspect has been taken into custody without incident.
