Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department gives COVID-19 update
PARKERSBURG — The Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department has not had a new positive COVID-19 case since May 20.
The West Virginia Bureau of Public Health stated Saturday at Governor Justice’s press conference their dashboard would now add a column for Probable Cases. The column included the cumulative numbers of probable cases to date, with new probable cases will be added daily.
MOVHD has had four reported probable cases — three in Wood County, and one in Pleasants County. A probable case is treated the same as a positive one, and the person is asked to isolate. Contact tracing is also done.
A person can be listed as probable if:
* presents with symptoms of COVID-19 and was exposed to a confirmed case
* has a positive anti-body testing
Wood County positive cases remain at 50. Wirt County has four positive cases, Pleasants County and Calhoun County each have two cases. Ritchie County continues to have only one case. Roane County has been reported as having nine cases, but one of those should have been listed as a case from Ohio. Therefore, Roane County has eight cases. Cases are reported to the county of residence.
