BELPRE — Belpre High School recognized its seniors with a parade Friday and held a hybrid/virtual graduation ceremony Saturday for its Class of 2020.

Seniors decorated vehicles and held up signs Friday during a parade through the city. Friends, family and community members stood along the streets to watch and applaud. On Saturday, graduation ceremonies for individual seniors began at 9 a.m. and ran throughout the day, with small families being allowed in to watch students walk across the stage and receive a diploma. The entire event was recorded and will be released to seniors and online, including graduation day speeches.

The hybrid graduation event was held in response to a shutdown of public and private schools in Ohio due to the spread of COVID-19. Administrators wore face masks and families were asked to social distance during both the parade and the graduation ceremony.
