Wood Schools meals delayed until Wednesday

PARKERSBURG — Wood County Schools is postponing its student meal program until Wednesday after only part of a food shipment arrived Monday.

Superintendent Will Hosaflook said meal distribution will occur from 11 a.m. -12:30 p.m. Wednesday at multiple sites throughout the county.

Hosaflook said Monday afternoon only about half of the 6,000 food boxes, which each contain five days worth of meals, had been delivered, and officials could not say whether the rest would arrive in time for sorting and distribution today.

An all-call was sent out to parents Monday to warn them of the delay.

The USDA also waived requirements for students to be present when meals are distributed, but Hosaflook said officials would still be verifying student enrollment at each site.
